Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Music Makes Sense (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal information when you visit our website or use our services. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.

Who is responsible for your data

The owner and data controller of this website is Daniel Tague, doing business as Music Makes Sense. You can contact us at any time about this policy or your personal information at danieltague@musicmakessense.com.

Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email address, phone number, address, sex, date of birth, and password (stored only as a secure hash) when you create an account.
  • Orders: items purchased, order totals, and shipping or contact details needed to fulfil an order. Card details are entered on Stripe’s secure pages and never reach or are stored on our servers.
  • Adapted Music Lessons requests: parent or guardian name, email, phone, the child’s first name and goals as provided by the parent or guardian, media-consent choice, and your newsletter preference.
  • Contact form messages: your name, email, and the message you send us.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: your email address and the date you opted in.
  • Technical information: basic server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) and anti-spam signals used to keep our forms safe from bots.

How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and process orders.
  • To respond to inquiries, schedule consultations, and provide our music therapy and music lesson services.
  • To send transactional emails such as verification codes and order confirmations.
  • To send newsletters, only if you chose to receive them.
  • To protect the site against fraud, spam, and abuse.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising.

Service providers we use

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site, and only as needed for them to perform their service:

  • Stripe – payment processing.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile – bot protection on forms.
  • Google Workspace – sending and receiving email.
  • Our hosting provider – servers and encrypted backups of the site and database.
  • Blogger – our blog posts are loaded from our public Blogger feed.

Links to third-party sites (for example Instagram, TikTok, Amazon, or Calendly) are governed by those sites’ own privacy policies.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use only the cookies and browser storage that are necessary for the site to work. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics.

  • mms_session – a secure, httpOnly cookie that keeps you signed in to your account.
  • Shopping cart – stored in your browser’s local storage so your cart is remembered. It stays on your device.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile – may set a technical cookie or load a script to tell humans from bots.
  • Stripe – may set cookies on its checkout pages for payment security and fraud prevention.

Because these are essential, we do not show a cookie consent banner. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site (sign-in, checkout) may stop working. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal; since we do not sell or share your data, no further action is needed.

Children’s privacy

Our website is intended for adults, including parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. When a parent or guardian requests services for a child, they provide the child’s information, and we use it only to arrange and deliver those services. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Parents may review, correct, or request deletion of their child’s information at any time.

Health information

Please do not include diagnoses, medical history, or other detailed health information in website forms or emails. Use the forms only for general inquiries and scheduling. Clinical details are discussed directly with you during your consultation or sessions.

Email and newsletter

We send newsletters only to people who opted in. Each message is sent by Music Makes Sense and you can unsubscribe at any time by replying or writing to danieltague@musicmakessense.com. We will remove you promptly, and in any case within 10 business days. Account and order emails are transactional and are sent regardless of newsletter status.

How long we keep information

We keep information for as long as needed to provide our services, maintain your account, keep business and tax records, and meet legal obligations. Account holders can ask us to delete their account at any time. Backups of the site and database are rotated and automatically deleted after about 15 days.

Security

We use HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, access controls, and regular backups. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example California, Texas, and other U.S. states), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access and correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising. To exercise any of these rights, email danieltague@musicmakessense.com. We may need to verify your identity, and we will not discriminate against you for making a request. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our response.

California residents may also ask which categories of personal information we disclosed for business purposes in the past 12 months. Do Not Track browser signals are not used for tracking, as we do not track visitors across sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the latest version. If we make material changes to how we use previously collected information, we will ask for your consent where required.
